*Remember: wildlife is wild life, so when it comes to stuff like whales and bears, these ratings show the likelihood of seeing those things as opposed to a guarantee. But that’s nature for ya – and who would want it any other way?
Juneau north harbor, Lynn Canal, Icy Strait, Chatham Strait, Fredrick Sound, Endicott Arm, Stevens Passage, Juneau downtown
New for 2023, this voyage circumnavigates Admiralty Island beginning from Auk Bay north of downtown Juneau Alaska and ends in downtown Juneau. Your 8 day adventure will take you through the northern Alexander Archipelago in the Alaska Panhandle frequently called the ABC islands.
Our first day begins immediately searching for humpback and orca frequently foraging in Lynn Canal and Icy Strait. The first anchorage will stage us perfectly for our southern passage between the steep forest passage between Chichagof and Admiralty Islands. With abundant choices for calm anchorages we have many opportunities to kayak, hike, and cruise this amazing island chain.
Rounding Point Gardner and into the whale rich waters of Fredrick Sound, Snow Goose will make her way to the lush island group called the Brothers. A guided forest walk and kayaking with sea lions while snugly anchored is a luxurious experience not felt by many. With large mammals in this area we hope to encounter them as we make our way north to the icy waters of Endicott Arm.
Endicott Arm offers one of the most stunning glacial landscapes in Southeast Alaska – sheer granite cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and thundering glaciers. Our anchorage in Fords Terror gives us further opportunities to learn about glaciation and how it has carved this area into a magical place.
After leaving Endicott Arm, our exploration continues northward toward the capitol of Alaska, Juneau. Arriving downtown, we will debark the Snow Goose where you have the opportunity to continue your Alaskan adventure, walk the city streets, or make your way back home. With plenty of museums, hotels, artisans, bookstores, and bars, you’ll be sure to enjoy your time in Juneau.
